Could be our 20 years of experience, or our friendly staff of fellow travelers. But most likely it’s because we offer the best value in hostel accommodation in San Diego with our Gaslamp entertainment district location, our exclusively-designed ‘privacy pods’ and our truly unique style of hacienda-meets-hippie-meets-Victorian décor.
Built when mining was bringing settlers to the new town of San Diego, our location originally housed a brothel. Wyatt Earp (of Dodge City fame) was among those attracted to the city by mining and the related businesses that developed. Earp operated four bars and gambling houses in the Stingaree, what is now called the Gaslamp Quarter. Considering his reputation for womanizing, it’s likely he came to know our building quite well.

“Great location with great staff. It was clean with activities scheduled nightly.”
“Located in a very nice area of San Diego, right next to all the action. It's safe and the staff is helpful. The atmosphere was a little low, but it was the end of October, not the best time for meeting travellers I guess! The breakfast is quite good, you can make your own pancakes, but there's also bread, fruit, coffee and tea available. Loved the place! ”
